Gravitational-wave observations of coalescing neutron stars offer a unique window into a regime where gravity and matter interact strongly and evolve dynamically. In this talk, we examine the tidal-resonance imprint on waveforms arising in the final ~100 milliseconds of inspiral. Notably, the fundamental mode resonantly excited during this stage exhibits pronounced nonlinearities beyond the reach of current analytical approaches. We present a first-of-its-kind suite of high-precision numerical simulations that partially confirm our theoretical predictions while uncovering new nonlinear phenomena. We propose a simple modification to current waveform models to capture the late-time signal, and highlight the need for more comprehensive modeling to achieve full consistency. |
